This week I thought I should post a old favorite of mine. I discovered Fair To Midland through my friend, Griffin and I fell in love with them really easily. Fair To Midland is a progressive, experimental rock group from Dallas, Texas created back in 1998. They are currently signed with Serj Tankian's personal record label: Serjical Strike Records. They have performed with many big name acts like Serj Tankian (no DUH!!), Rage Against The Machine, 10 Years, Smashing Pumpkins, Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, and many more. Currently, they are jumping between touring and recording their 4th album. Check them out on their Myspace and I hope you enjoy this diamond in the rough.
P.S. Below is a video to their single "Dance Of The Manatee". I know the video is very different from most videos, but they take on a old Aesop fable look. Plus, I watched this video before in a Carl's JR of all places!! I was just eating food and this came on the TV there.

He Is The Painter
I thought I should start off my blog with a very unique band known as He Is The Painter. He Is The Painter is a band from San Diego that I have seen perform two times already at an event called Friday Night Heights. They mix Rock music with a Spanish guitar influence to create a very unique breed of music. Currently, they have been working on recording for an EP and trying to promote themselves through the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands. You can listen to their music either through their Myspace or if you like what you hear, vote for them here. By voting for them, you can help get them a spot on the Vans Warped Tour lineup, the opportunity to record a 3 song EP with Matt Squire and worldwide distribution of that EP, and also a $15,000 shopping spree at Guitar Center. Come check them out and I hope you enjoy them! Thanks for reading.
P.S. Below is a video of them playing at SOMA. In my opinion, they sound just as good live, which is almost impossible to find in a band these days.
P.S.S. Comment below or contact me to let me know what you think. Give me feedback on how I am doing and suggestions for artists to feature is always nice. Also if you like free music, check out my brother's blog here. He has found some great artists with links to free mp3s that are ALL LEGAL!!
